If you knew me as a kid, you probably wouldn't believe that I am now in the fitness industry. I was never very athletic. I tried every sport but was never any good. I hated PE class, especially when we had to pick people for teams. I never had any confidence and thought I was just not meant to be an athlete. I was, however, always very interested in nutrition and movement. I loved reading about health trends and nutrition and loved doing my aerobic VHS tapes in my living room (yes, I'm that old).
When I was in college, I needed a part time job. I saw an ad on campus for an all women's gym that was looking for front desk staff. This changed my life. I was comfortable there and found my love for fitness. I loved their classes and discovered that I really loved strength training, too. The owner taught me how to teach group step aerobics and cardio kickboxing classes. From there I ended up being a personal trainer, as well. I really loved it but I had always wanted to be a teacher and that's what I was going to school for. So I graduated and moved to Westchester, where I was an elementary special education teacher for 7 years.
I left my job when I had my first child in 2008. I was kind of lost and didn't know what to do with myself, so I found a class called Stroller Strides, which is a workout that you do with your baby in the stroller. This saved me! I loved getting out with my daughter, working out and socializing. And I felt like I was being a good role model for her. I loved it so much that I became certified in pre- and post-natal fitness through Stroller Strides. I taught classes until my third daughter was starting to get old enough to go to preschool.
Once my kids were a little older, I needed a new place to work out. That's when I found Immortal. I've been a member here since 2016. Immortal is truly an amazing place. It's like a family (In fact, my husband, Michael, is also a member. Our oldest, Lexi, takes classes with us sometimes. I'm working on getting Sabrina and Tori in here too!) Because of the support here, I have felt safe to take risks and have been pushed to be my best self. I am stronger and more fit than ever and I'm in my 40's. Being a member here has made me more confident and I wanted to share that confidence with others. This was the reason I became a Certified Nutrition Coach. I saw the difference that nutrition made in my training and I wanted to share that knowledge with others. I loved Nutrition Coaching so much that I decided to get my personal training certification. I had been a trainer so many years ago but had never taken the test because I was focused on being a teacher at the time. So, many years later, I did it!
What motivates me most is watching people realize they’re stronger than they imagined. Everyone begins their fitness journey from a different place, and that’s exactly how it should be. My passion is helping individuals build strength, confidence, and habits that fit their lives — not just for a season, but for the long run. Progress looks different for everyone, but growth is always possible.
